Airlive's road to the Division 1 crown was never the easiest, but champions are rarely built on comfort.
After finishing the eliminations with a 4-2 record as the third seed, they survived a nail-biting semifinal match against Fortinet before earning the rematch they had been waiting for. We saw back and forth action between Airlive and PLDT where the men from Airlive emerged victorious in a down to the wire match ending 79-76.
Finals MVP Rodney Santos provided Airlive vital points in the final quarter, mounting the needed output to keep them alive. Alongside him, leading scorer Max Reyes also sunk in multiple baskets to bring Airlive closer down the stretch. In perhaps the most crucial moment of the game, as Airlive was down 73-74 with 32 seconds remaining, star guard Kenneth Tobis sunk a three from the top of the key that swished down with nothing but net, to give Airlive the lead. From that point on, amazing free throw shooting kept Airlive in the driver seat until the end of the game.
When the final buzzer sounded, Airlive had done more than win a championship. They proved that resilience, patience, and perfect timing can turn challengers into the kings of Division 1 of the Telecoms Basketball League.
